5 Steps to Goal Setting
1.
Start now: Why delay? If you® life seems unfocused or seems to
just be drifting by year to year, take this opportunity to set your
life goals. Start today.
2.
Write down your goals & dreams: Don’t be afraid to dream.
Spend lots of time on this step as it is important. Don’t worry if
you think your goals
are impossible or too far distant in the
future. Set the goals you want, not what you think you might get.
Make sure you know what you really want to do and don’t be
afraid of making that your goal. Set as many goals as you feel you
need, there is no such thing as too many goals.
3.
Divide your goals into terms:
There are
goals that can be
accomplished
in a week and others that take many years. Break
your goals into the following terms: Long-term (2-10 years);
Short-term (1 year); Current (1-30 days)
4.
Prioritize your goals: Which goals are more important to you? We
don’t have all the time in the world, so it is vital to put the more
important goals first for each term.
5.
Enjoy the journey:
You are in the driver seat. Map out your
destination and dare to make the journey. Enjoy the ride and
challenges along the way.
Goals are a way to bring perspective and focus
into your life. By
taking the first steps and setting your goals, you have already got your
mind around your dreams. This is the first step in accomplishing your
dreams (goals).
The most enjoyable stage in goal setting is the actual setting of your
goals. This is the step where you find what it is you want to do. Always
write down your goals, even if you think they will change. By writing
your goals you are keeping a permanent record which is invaluable
when you want to come back to them.
It’s a funny thing
about life; if you
refuse to accept
anything but the
best, you very often
get it.
