Why is motivation important?
Take a minute to consider what motivation is and how it affects your
life. All of our actions are motivated, whether we realize it or not.
Tiredness motivates us to sleep, hunger motivates us to eat, and our
wants and desires motivate us throughout our lives. Unfortunately for
many people, their time is spent idle or wasted because they arent
motivated in the right way.
Being motivated means being able to take action, to seize the
moment and to make progress towards a goal. Its the goal that is the
key to motivation.
If the goal can clearly be seen, it is desired enough, and the path is
shown, we are more likely to achieve it. Having a goal is much like
having a destination. Rather than just driving aimlessly around, you will
be driving to your destination.
Everyone has the ability to be motivated. It is the drive that we are
lacking for. The motivational drive is the goal. By correctly setting
your goals, you will find the motivation you need to achieve it.
Becoming motivated
Every person can be motivated. The trick is to find out what motives
you the most.
Before we learn how to become motivated, lets first
look at some of the elements that motivate us.
Elements of motivation
Rabbi Daniel Lapin is an author of the book, The Jewish Edge and
has defined four central themes that motivate people. These are:
Wealth ($): Amassing a calculable wealth is and has always
motivated a lot of humanity. Wealth provides financial security
as well as piece of mind. Wealth symbolizes success. Wealth is in
the forefront when it comes to the perception of success.
Many students study for this single reason. A degree, diploma or
certificate will give that added credential and improved job
prospects to greater wealth.
Having a goal is the key to motivation
Become a student of
change. It is the only
thing that will remain
constant.
