Stress exists during studying. It prepares the body for exams and can
even be helpful during the studying process. However, stress can
have a negative effect and hinder the minds ability to remember and
even cause the immobilization of our thoughts.
By understanding the effects of stress and learning to reduce it to
manageable levels, you will be able to improve your ability to study
effectively.
The effects of stress have only been recently studied:
The scientific study of stress has only been underway for the last 60
years. Stress is the reaction to constant influences from the body. As
demands are made on the body ever hour, mostly unnoticeable,
changes are taking place within the body.
These minute changes that take place can be seen in actual
chemical and physical changes. The chemical changes that can
occur are increased size of the adrenal glands as well as physical
changes which include the production of hormones that increase the
heart rate, blood pressure, and your breathing.
Studies have shown that individuals suffering from prolonged stress
also suffer from stress related ailments including many stomach
disorders such as ulcers, vomiting, obesity, constipation, and diarrhea
to name only a few.
What can you do about stress?
The impact that stress has on the body can be changed. We have the
ability to reduce the impact stress and use the benefits of stress to
improve our study ability. The first step in reducing stress is learning
about it and taking responsibility for your own stress.
Taking Responsibility for your own stress:
Excessive stress does not have to be an uncontrollable factor in our
lives. Though there are the inescapable events that cause
tremendous stress, such as the loss of a loved one, it isnt these
inescapable events that occur during our lives that we need to worry
about. It is our ability to control how we deal with the stress itself.
