Using your voice is even more important for professionals that
demand it such as lawyers, doctors, salesman, and politicians. The use
of your voice may not be demanded much in the academic world,
but it can be a very useful learning tool.
Your voice can be used in many ways during studying to help you
through the studying process. Here are some ways your voice can be
used to assist with your learning:
Teach someone else the material you have just learned.
Talk out loud when memorizing new information.
Debate various points of the material you have just leaned with
other students.
Use rhyme and song to sing the information you are learning.
Record the material you need to learn on an audio recorder
and play it back to help the learning process.
Habit:
We all have habits. Some habits are good and some are bad. Habits
are a way for us to do things without even thinking about them. This
can be either a curse or cure while studying.
Read the small passage below written by an anonymous author. While
reading each of the sentences, try to imagine what this author is
referring to:
“I am your constant companion. I am your greatest helper or heaviest
burden. I will push you onward and upward or drag you down to failure. I
am completely at your command. Ninety percent of the things you do
might as well be turned over to me, and I will be able to do them quickly
and correctly. I am easily managed, show me exactly how you want
something done and after a few lessons I will do them automatically. I
am the servant of all great people and, alas, of all failures as well. I am not
a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine, plus the
intelligence of a man. You can run me for profit or run me for ruin - it
makes no difference to me. Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will
place the world at your feet. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Who
am I? I am Habit.”
Some of our daily habits are:
Driving:
Have you found yourself taking the route home or to
work when you had planned on going somewhere else?
Human beings, by
changing the inner
attitudes of their
minds, can change
the outer aspects of
their lives.
