If you find that you do have a distinct preference to the instrument

Visualization & positive thinking:
Visualization is a skill that has gained popularity over the last 10 years
for its ability to dramatically help athletes. Visualization is the act of
visualizing something that you want to do. The belief is that by
visualizing it, you are programming the mind to act in a certain way. It
has been the last few years of studies that have proved that there is a
lot of merit given to visualization.
Visualization is also a technique that can be used for study
preparation allowing the student to visualize:
The quantity of work that will be completed during the study
session.
The student ‘seeing’ themselves in a relaxed state while
studying.
The material in detail that will be covered.
A state of relaxation wanted during the exam.
Applying visualization for studying is very simple. Find a quiet, relaxing
place, close your eyes and spend a few minutes ‘visualizing’ these
few things:
How you will feel relaxed during your study sessions.
The amount of work that you want to accomplish during a study
session.
The proficiency in the material you want to learn.
How you want to feel during your examination.
Being able to recall all the information you need during the
examination.
Knowing the answers and being able to answer them during
the entire exam.
Many other points can be used during your visualization. Think about
the most important aspects to your studying that you would like to
improve on and visualize those points before you start every study
session.
