Real, constructive mental power lies in the creative thought that shapes
your destiny, and your hour-by-hour mental conduct produces power
for change in your life. Develop a train of thought on which to ride. The
nobility of your life as well as your happiness depends upon the

Strengthening your concentration:
We have already mentioned how internal distracters can rob
concentration. Two very effective techniques that can immediately
improve concentration are by using a “To-do” list and a ‘Worry List”.
To-do list:
A To-do list is a laundry list of ‘things’ that need to be done that are
creeping in while you are trying to study. The most effective way of
combating these thoughts is by putting them down on paper. A ‘To-
do’ list can include anything from household chores to various study
goals for that day. It is just a list to contain those little things that must
be done at some point in time.  As simple as it sounds, a to-do list will
relieve your mind of these items and allow you to focus your
concentration.

contains those worrying or troubling items. Concerns about your
grades, family, and relationships are example of things that would be
on a worry list. The worry list is for writing worries down on paper so
that they can be dealt with at a separate time. The items on the worry
list should not be dealt with during your study time.

items off your mind, but they don’t help strengthen your
concentration. That is what these three following techniques are for.
They help strengthen your concentration by allowing you to
concentration for longer periods of time.

improve their ability to concentrate. This technique is known as
‘Candle Staring’ and involves looking at a candle for 30 seconds and
