Although the brain only accounts for 2% of the total body weight, the
brain uses over 20% of the body’s total consumption of oxygen. By
improving your breathing, you also improve your brains ability to
function.
The biggest mistake most people make is that they breathe too
quickly. People who breathe quickly take too many breathes which
causes rapid and shallow breathing.  Breathing too quickly also means
that you are only using 1/6 of your lung capacity; a very inefficient
way to breathe and a poor way to get the oxygen to your brain that
you need for studying.
Proper breathing is taking between 5 to 6 relaxed breaths every
minute. Proper breathing improves general health, reduces stress and
anxiety, increases alertness, increases energy levels, assists the
immune system, and most importantly, improves your mental faculties
and concentration.
           Benefits of Correct Breathing
It is so simple, yet so few people actually breathe properly. The
immediate benefits of correct breathing are numerous; here are a few
of them:
1.
Reduces Stress & Anxiety
2.
Increases Alertness
3.
Increase Energy Levels
4.
Improves the Immune System
5.
Improves Overall Health
6.
Improves Mental Faculties and Concentration
The principle for correct breathing is to inhale through the nose slowly
and deeply while expanding the diagraph (not the chest) and pausing
before expelling any air. Exhaling should take place momentarily after
the pause and the exhaling should exhale most of the air out of the
lungs.
