undergraduate and need to get into medical school, you’ll know the
GPA you will need to get there. Attaining that GPA will be your short-
term goal.
Current study goals are the last step in setting study goals. Immediate
study goals must be able to match your short-term study goals. In the
case of the student that wants to get into medical school, his current
study goals will be to obtain the marks on his next test that he is
studying as that will help him attain the GPA he needs.
The last step after setting your current goals is to put the goals you
need to accomplish on a daily to-do list so that you can make daily
progress towards your goals.
Using to-do lists
We have all heard of the ‘to-do’ list. The weekly shopping list is a
perfect example of one. To-do lists are one of the most undervalued
task tools out there. They are simple to use, very powerful, and offers
the student a structured, priority based approach to the
accomplishment of their tasks for the day. Best of all, to-do lists can be
reward based, which is a great way to positively reinforce getting
things done.
Rewards can take the form of a simple relaxation break, food,
activities, movies, hikes, or anything else that would interest you. To-do
lists are simple, easy and fun to use. Just follow the few guidelines
when using them.
Using To-Do Lists                     
A to-do list is an invaluable tool to keep you on track with your
studies. Just jot down the tasks that can be completed in a day. If a
task will take longer than a day, break the task up into smaller pieces.
Once all the tasks for the day are on the to-do list, prioritize the list
and put the most important ones on top. Then you are ready to begin.
Start by completing the tasks at the top of the list. If you haven’t
completed all the tasks by the end of the day, include them on the
next days ‘to-do’ list.
